This 3-hour magical gastronomic experience presented on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, 6:30 – 9:30 pm, showcases Morocco & Spain’s fine cuisine in celebration of our cultures coming together during the Al-Andalus era in the Iberian Peninsula. Enjoy music and a kaftan to wear for the evening – or bring it home!
Henna Experience
Join us on Sundays, 4:00 – 6:30 pm, for a vibrant experience of artistry, ritual, and celebration. It is a bonding moment among ladies, family, friends and fellow travelers from across the globe. Learn the secrets or Moroccan tea, select a traditional henna design, enjoy Moroccan music and dance, and wear one of our kaftans to wear during this experience, also available for purchase to take home.
Vintage Cinema Lounge

Our Story
Pilar Avila, Free People Riad owner & general manager, first visited Marrakech in 1996. In 2019, she hosted a Renovad’s wellness experiential retreat in Morocco. When she returned after the pandemic, Pilar was inspired to launch in Morocco the first on-the-ground programs of Renovad GIVE Foundation. In 2023, a collaboration was established with Henna Cafe Cultural Center to present the Foundation’s inaugural VOICE English summer program to youth in the Atlas Mountains. After spending the summer in Morocco, Pilar decided to make Morocco her home and bought the riad that would become Free People Riad & Spa.
